A war orphan's journey

In this season of giving thanks, I realize there is just so much to be thankful for. I have had the honor of photographing many people throughout this year. Today I have been reflecting on my time with so many of you. Each of your stories has deeply influenced me. However, one story, in particular, I feel compelled to be shared.
I want to introduce Kadie. As war orphans, from Sierra Leone, five-year-old Kadie and her little brother were adopted by an American family. In her five years living in a war-torn country, she lived through and witnessed things that most of us cannot even begin to image. What most impressed me about Kadie is this incredible wisdom, strength, and beauty that comes from deep down within her. Her ability to find forgiveness for a place that did not treat her kindly is her most endearing quality. Kadie made a youtube video where she speaks openly and honestly about her journey.
Today, Kadie, I give thanks for time with you. Photographing you was an incredible honor. I share your video today in hopes that my friends and followers will support you by viewing your story.
